Ceilings with beams and huge practical pieces of furniture like chests, trestle tables and stools, and huge beds with more chests.. The slant would have been on practicality in such a working environment, with everything going on indoors all at once.

But even without ornamentation there is a sparse and austere beauty about this look. You can warm it up and soften it up but keep it simple.
