Shaker
"This is my absolute favourite."
The Shakers arrived in America about 1770
and within fifty years most of their designs had reached the final forms
we see today.

Their work was a form of worship and for me this somehow comes across in the simplicity of the look. Everything is so
perfectly proportioned , beautiful although unadorned.
To create the look, clear soft colours, white will accentuate the purity
but soft blue grey works well.
No mad bright chintzy colours here. The stronger tones should be the
deep natural colours of the woods themselves.
Wooden furniture and wooden floors with rugs, and bare windows with only
simple blinds or muslin curtains for privacy. |
Plenty of Shaker style furniture available and accessories should
be utilitarian and and simple.
And we do understand that this is not shaker furniture but
we like it
anyway
