Smooth
"I reckon that the bathrooms and the kitchen are the rooms most
likely to have a high proportion of smooth. It’s the practicality
and cleanliness thing."
Laminated surfaces, tiles and glass and metal could all seem
clinical or cold. Add texture with the curtain treatments and the
pottery and basketware. In bathrooms towels and soaps and plants can
do the trick
Smooth is glass tables, and shiny woods, and anything highly
polished.
Highly glazed cotton chintzes are smooth, and can be used in
rustic surroundings to add gloss and colour in an otherwise rough
environment
Smooth can be matt or shiny and can be used in complementary or
contrasting colours.
Some smooth stuff:
Polished woods

Ceramic tiles
Marble
Glass and mirrors
Chrome, steel, brass and other polished metals
